Can I delete driver exe once installed?

When I download a driver and extracted the files and download, can I delete the files or does it need to be stay there to stay recognised?

Once the driver is installed correctly, meaning the installation has been completed successfully and the PC has been rebooted, the original .exe / extracted installation files are no longer necessary Windows now stores the files in the %systemroot%.

    Hi tnm,

You can delete the original driver file once the driver is installed and working fine. However, it is advisable to keep all the drivers for your system in one location so that in point of need you don't have to spend time finding and downloading the correct driver.

I hope it answers your query. If you have any further queries, please feel free to contact us.

I installed driver for Lexmark x8350 on my Compaq computer (Windows Vista 64). There is no app/logo on the desktop to print, scan. I need to double click on that app/logo to get access to scanner. There has to be a way

    Hi leadpipe,

    Welcome to Seven forums.

It would be better if you open a new thread for a different issue. Please go to start all programs and there would be application available.

Right click on the application and send it to desktop to get the application on desktop for you.

Keep us posted with the results so we can advise you further.
