how to force a driver to load?
I have a Western Digital 1tb drive that has been sitting here basically dead for years now. The drive works perfectly fine when plugged into an XP machine, but not on my Windows 7 x64 machine. I am aware this is a known Windows 7 issue. But, when we had a bad storm, and a power-failure because of it, when I booted my computer back up, after restarting from safe mode, it suddenly recognized the drive. Great! Next time I rebooted, gone! Fast forward a while later, another storm, another power failure, another magical reappearance of the drive! This time I happened to notice in the sys tray windows said it was loading the driver. Interesting (may had said that the first time too, and I just didn't see it). Regular reboot later, drive again gone. . .
so, my question is, how do I manually load a driver?
