Not really,
Waiting for the holiday season to make other changes to my system and another fresh install to correct other boo-boos I made with an existing manufactures partition in front of C-drive,
Learning through hard knocks
I've found a wealth of information here on this site which will be implemented

Oddly Nommy I had this same mouse on my desktop which looked like this,
Attachment 283462
So I figured it would be harmless,
Touch pad software/ features are third party Synaptic I believe not Microsoft based ?
I didn't notice anything was wrong until I was in the field without my mouse and tried to adjust my touch pad settings and they were gone lol !

Wouldn't know lol, but I figured that M$ would at least test their stuff for compatibility issues and such, especially for flaws this big!

Yes Greg's tutorial is on top of the list
I really didn't know of a good image backup utility until I came here and discovered it but seems a waste now until I'm truly ready for it ?

And yes it was a shock such a simple Optional update was so destructive to a Mandatory software such as Touch pad interface,
100.00 bucks was an easy out on that one.
All windows updates have disclaimers.

And all costumers have a minimum of two years of full hardware warranty - and (out of my head, haven't done international costumer law in a while) 24 months of warranty against this kind of stuff.

M$ can put whatever they want in their disclaimers, but they don't stand above the law. If they make a mistake, they gotta pay for it.

Do a back up toady!!!! You must always be ready for a back up. Never ever be without one that will restore your system as it was no longer that one month away. That way you save not only money and time but a lot of grief. Trust me, I've done it on my machine and many others. I wouldn't sleep at night without a back up

Actually I manually backup to a external hdd only personal files every week so they are fine.
Plus the external is not on all of the time either/ need a better case-enclosure for cooling.
So system and an auto utility... would be next but the holidays are the only time I can make that move/ realistically.

Liabilities ?
Can't see a C-note as much of a motivator to mess with plus it was awhile back/ although I did send feedback

What I am talking about is creating a back up image so that if necessary your could set up your PC to exactly as it was on the day you created the image. OS, Drivers, Data, the lot. It takes me about an hour from start to finish. I never actually check the time thought in the B/U detail the time taken to back up is quoted, I think. I leave the PC running the back up and go off and do something else usually at lunch time. Then I always verify the image to make sure it is OK. Takes about 20 mins.
This is particularly useful if you need to replace a hard drive. No messing starting from scratch and re installing everything. Its all done in about 20 mins!
