Can not install the driver for Xbox 360 PC wireless gaming Receiver

    Dear all

My OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
    Problem:
    1. Turn on the PC, then plug in the xbox 360 wireless receiver, the device manager can detect the wireless receiver and it works fine.
    2. Restart the PC (the wireless receiver still connect on the PC) and open device manager, it shows "unknown device" of the wireless receiver, and it can not work anymore.
    3. But if i pull out the receiver and plug in, it can work again.
What's wrong with it? How to fix it?

When it shows "unknown device" on the device manager, i try to install the driver for the receiver by using the following steps:
    - Right click on Computer
    - Go to Properties
    - Click on Device Manager
    - Right click on the Unidentified Device
    - Go to Properties
    - Go to the Drive tab
    - Click on Update Driver…
    - Browse my computer for driver software
    - Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
    - Windows Common Controller for Window Class
    - Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows Version: 2.1.0.1349 [8/13/2009]
    - Update Driver Warning
    - Click Yes
In step "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer", there is no option "Windows Common Controller for Window Class", so i can not install the driver.
    How should i do?
    Thanks a lot.

Try opening the setup file with winrar and extracting the files, then go to "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer" then click "Have disk" and browse to the folder you extracted the files to and pick the .inf file.

    Thanks for your help, brreaker.
I use 7zip to open the file Xbox360_64Eng.exe, there are only one .inf in this exe file: xusb21.inf.
But it still can not work, the device manager still shows "unknown device".
    Thanks a lot.

Should be a connect button on the receiver?

I ain't got a wireless gamepad one but a wired one and i remember the first time i used it was on a usb 3.0 port and it wouldn't work, so Usb 2.0 was the only i could use.

Need wireless set-up and uninstall hardwired set-up

I connected Microsoft wireless gaming adapter to desktop (Windows 7 32-bit). Shows driver not installed. I tried downloading the driver, but when I open it it says cannot install because driver already installed on computer. Apparently current driver was hard wired for Xbox 360 and I must remove it before installing. It is currently first item in c: and I think it should be c:\windows\system 32\drivers to work. How do I fix this?

When I go to Control Panel --> Hardware and Sound --> Devices and Printers --> the device is displayed as "unspecified" - When I click on properties there is no driver tab and in the hardware tab it reads: The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

    Welcome to SevenForums,

You will be able to uninstall the Microsoft Xbox 360 Accessories from the "Program & Features". Also look at your "Device Manager" if you see the "Xbox 360 Controller for Windows" entry, then uninstall the pilote.

In C:\windows\system 32\drivers\xusb21.sys...is the pilote for the Microsoft Xbox 360. Delete it.

If you have the drivers for the Wireless one, i suggest to install them before plug in your wireless controller.
