    Base System Device Driver

I have recently reinstalled Windows 7/64 (ultimate) to my Vaio VGN-Z710DD (sold in Canada only).
For Device manager the driver is not installed.
I have downloaded the driver from Vaio website (Memory Devices for WIndows 7 x64).
After the install, the system tell me the installation was no succesfull and should try again.
After the second attempt, the system tell me that the driver is for Vista OS.

This was tried many time with no difference.
Contacted Vaio (US/Canada) and Microsoft Techies - NO difference.
I feel lost in cyberspace Any suggestions?
    Appreciate the help

    Hi Maxie,
On the Vaio site I downloaded the driver and made sure I selected the proper OS (Win 7 x64) from the pulldown menu.
The Win 7 was installed from MS original DVD. I suspect, some settings ..... somewhere, are obsructing the install of the driver.
After the install, the icon for the SD was missing from list of drives. I managed to have it reappear, however without the driver it does not function.

The "error message" come on after I install the driver and press "Finish", the system tells me that the installation was not succesful and that I should to reinstall the driver, ..... at the end of the reinstall a the system warns me that that driver is for Vista OS.

I think there must be some thing wrong with your Windows Installer run the program below to check the System files

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Followed your suggestion and run SFC twice. Both times - no integrity violation found.
    Any other suggestion?
.... Another unusual problem is occurring (I think unrelated) Windows tells me there are 3 important security upgrades to run. I install the upgrades (2 Office 2007 and 1 Excel 2007) reboot and still find the same upgrades waiting to be installed. This has never happened before. Do you see a connection between these problems?
    Tks

    Hi Maxie,
On the General Tab / Location I read: PCI bus 11, device 4, function 4
On the Details Tab / Value / Base System Device: Blank

    Cheers
