    nVidia nForce Ethernet driver issues

I had this same issue on the RC but am now getting it on the retail.

    Windows 7 Pro x64

Asus P5N32-E SLI with nFocrce 680i chipset

On RC, if i installed the nForce driver package then my ethernet would randomly fallover under high network activity (only internet would fall, LAN would remain) To fix i would right click network icon in system tray and select troubleshoot problems, this would then fix it.

But it did it so often that i ended up removing the nforce drivers and letting windows 7 use its own driver, after which i never had a problem again.

Now i'm on retail im getting similar things although now its not happening with high network activity, it just happening randomly.

For retail i'm using the brand new nForce v15.51 drivers and its still randomly killing my network connection, but this time everything is falling over, LAN and net.

Is anyone else seeing this sort of behaviour when using the nvidia nForce driver package?

Its really irritating and i'm very suprised nVidia have still not fixed such a glaring bug.

uninstalled the ethernet driver portion of the nForce driver install and once again my network card is back to normal with no problems.....

why can't nVidia sort their driver out for win7?

Well, the Asus website doesn't show any drivers for Windows 7 yet, and since Asus is responsible for drivers for their motherboard, I guess you should complain to Asus about not having drivers yet.

I understand you can get the drivers from nVidia, but your complaint to Asus is still worth doing. Also, do you have the latest BIOS installed? Have you visited the Asus P5N32-E SLI forum?

I had problems even with the MS included driver.

So, I thought I'd throw in the solution that worked for me. What follows is a copy of from the Microsoft forum: default gateway not available in windows 7

Hello Guys. I found the solve on a Nvidia forum. Its works perfect for me.

This solution was found in another forum. And it solved the problem for me. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate x64. And the constant network disconnects was getting bad, especially during steady downloading.

What you need is the nVidia Vista v15.25 (32bit or 64bit) motherboard driver.
64bit URL: NVIDIA DRIVERS 15.25 WHQL
32bit URL: NVIDIA DRIVERS 15.25 WHQL

I ran into a problem immediately when the driver installer did not display the Ethernet menu item.
I had to do the following to get this fix to work. Note that it applies to the Win7 64bit version:
    1) Uninstall any Nvidia Ethernet drivers.
    -- Reboot.
--the Windows 7 default ethernet drivers get installed in their place
--verify and note down the filename of the Network Adapter driver filename that Windows 7 uses.
    2) Do the following:
--go to the location where the Nvidia installer unzipped the v15.25 files on your hardrive. Under the Ethernet folder, find the v15.25 Ethernet driver file "nvmfdx64.sys" (file version 1.0.1.6789) and rename it to the Windows 7 x64 default Ethernet driver filename "nvm62x64.sys".
--copy nvm62x64.sys to c:\windows\system32\drivers (archive the old default file first).

    Reboot.
This has worked perfectly for me. No loss in any functionality that I'm aware of, and my network is now stable again.
