Please Help! HP Pavilion zd8000 Audio Driver

    Hey all!
Had my zd8000 on OS XP until oct 22. now that i've upgraded i've lost my audio driver, windows update has tried to install it but it wont. I've extracted the contents, manually installed them myself... rebooted and it just wont work.

This is not a hardware issue
    =D

    Info on my driver
    PCI\VEN_10B9&DEV_5451&SUBSYS_0024103C&REV_02
    PCI\VEN_10B9&DEV_5451&SUBSYS_0024103C
    PCI\VEN_10B9&DEV_5451&CC_040100
    PCI\VEN_10B9&DEV_5451&CC_0401

Now I was reading on this and many many people have having the same issue... Given this driver info a person on these forums "baarod" came up with this:

"This is the most ridiculous example of OEM re-branding ever. Seems that HP, who claims to be the manufacturer of this machine, bought the chipset from ALi, AKA Acer Labs, Inc. and to prevent any Acer (a competitor in the laptop market) branding, had Conexant license the part so they could then buy it from them. Note the PCI Database listing compared to your vendor and device codes: PCI Vendor and Device Lists

So HERE is the real driver: a bit of rebranded ALi code with a Conexant inf...

now he seemed to figure it all out but that link is dead. I've tried getting a hold of him to no avail.

I'm dieing without sound! if you have any knowledge you could shed on me I would greatly appreciate it!

Welcome to Seven Forums. I fell your pain their is a very long thread on this already, it even ptovides the same link. Maybe some suggestions in it that might help. Other than that it appears to be a unsolved issue. Wish I had more for you, other than being directed to a pay for driver program. Fabe SO close - Conexant AC-Link Audio Driver

Well, mine is working now. Had my friend look at it (has a computer degree) he basically said he did a clean install of Vista, installed the drivers, and then went back to W7.

Granted not everyone has access to Vista, but that's what he did.
