This worked for my laptop: http://justendeal.com/driver/855gm_vista_driver.zip
But no chance of making Aero working (even when forcing).

No luck with my Gateway MX6030 so far, but I'll keep trying.steath bump
having same problems here with an HP dv1000 - hope there is a solution soon!
This worked for me as well on my Gateway 7320GZ laptop. But there is some strangeness. For instance, in the Device Manager, it lists two 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controllers. If I delete one (shouldn't there be just one?) it comes back on reboot.
This driver did not work when I first installed it. Then I went into Safe Mode to try installing it in there (tried this with all the other drivers mentioned here and it didn't work at all, so I didn't really expect any joy here either) but before I could do anything else, a window popped up at the Safe Mode desktop and said that the drivers were installed. When I checked the Device Manager listing, it showed these... and the VGA drivers were finally gone! I fully expected (because of all the failures in the previous attempts with Intel and Gateway drivers) this to all go away again and be back to standard VGA drivers when I booted in normal Windows mode.
But this wasn't the case. The screen came up without any warnings and the 82852 GME etc controller was still in the lineup. Next I played Solitaire and there was no warning that Hardware Accelleration was turned off! Hooray! I could only hear the cards being dealt before... and play was impossibly slow. Now all the screen savers (Bubbles!) work where they would not in under the standard VGA drivers. Real cool!
One odd thing... when the drivers were installed, I ran in 1200x800 mode just fine. But on reboot, the screen ducked down to 1024x768 as the highest mode. Odd... but I can live with it until and if something better emerges.
So, I've now got sound (using the XP sound drivers installed in XP compatibility from Gateway) and these video drivers working.
The only strangeness now on my little laptop when running Win7RC is that when I'm typing in a message window like the one used in this forum and my mouse pointer is in the window, the typing cursor sometimes randomly leaps to the location of the pointer! I've never seen this before in WinXP. If I remember to move the pointer out of the window, this does not occur.
Another oddity is that under Control Panel/System page, there is no report on my system's RAM amount. All the other info is there... just blank where it says "Installed Memory (RAM)". There are no (!) problems in Device Manager.
Under Monitor, it shows 3 Digital Displays... I have only one. Is this normal for it to show 3???
My laptop's specs are:
Gateway 7320GZ
Pentium 4 2.8GHz CPU
1GB RAM
250 GB WD HD (installed by me last weekend)
Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME video
Cheers,
Paul
