Yes, get a new laptop, it's 500$ and it's pretty good :)
That's what I did and I don't regret it. The smoothness of the Aero is so much more pleasant to work with than the XP standard display.

this worked for me
download old drivers from
Intel(R) Graphics Platform (SoftBIOS) Driver Download
run the install
if the driver keeps loading at boot - turn off system restore
@ comwreck,
I have a dell latitude D505 with this graphics chipset. i was wondering the utility you have linked on your post, how does that differ from the driver that people provided on here that was from Windows
Vista via DriverMax? i have native resolution but sometimes, the Aero snap would freeze my computer. i was wondering if you can explain how your method works for Windows 7?
I can't find the driver on that link anymore???
The version you need is 6.14.10.3691
I think trying to run aero on this adapter is a bit adventurous.
Oh i know running Aero won't work, but if you notice, there is a limited functonality that does take place. Aero snap and shake both work even on the basic settings for the visual and theme for windows 7.
what i was wondering if it is possible to have drivers that do work properly so if i do have a video running in VLC or WMP, my PC doesn't freese if i try the Aero snap. That's all. I can understand if i can't have OpenGL drivers and such. I think it is a shame that Intel can't provide driver set for these legacy devices considering that there are many good computers that can run Windows 7 fine.
Intel reckon that the chipsets won't support xpdm drivers. Maybe, maybe not - I'm not an expert.
My snap and shake work ok
If your graphics have shared memory, try checking with memtest86, graphics might tax it enough to cause freeze

Coderiu, are well assured that this driver would work perfectly with Window 7 ultimate?
Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME graphics is the driver as referenced in your post thread but, I would like to know the reason why Window7 is having sound problem with other computer manufacturers except HP products
