HP Universal Print driver - Win7 64 bit

    Hi !

Can anyone tell me where to find the 64 bit version of HP's Universal print driver for Win 7 ?

I have been through HP's site, and can't find a download for this.

    Thanks,

What is the model of your printer? We really do need that to help you more correctly.

The HP support site requires that you start from there, to get drivers and downloads.

For example, when I enter my "2605dn" printer model in the product identification are of the above starting page, I am then taken to an appropriate page for everything related to my printer.

So, in my own case's example, after entering "2605dn" and pushing the NEXT button, I was then taken to this page on which there was a link to "software & driver downloads" for my printer.

And then from the next page I would pick my OS (Windows 7 64-bit), push the NEXT button, and then get back a page that allows me to download the appropriate Universal Print Driver for my printer.

(Now as it turns out, I do get a 550 error trying to actually download the actual EXE files for both PCL6 and PS, both 5.3.1 drivers dated July 2011, but theoretically this should work and certainly has worked for me in the past when I downloaded drivers 5.2 )

I have had no problems in the past either, but this is a mystery. The Universal print driver can be used for multiple printers, not tied to a specific printer model. But just to show what I mean for the current problem, try looking for a Win7 driver (32 or 64 bit) for say either an HP4600n or an HP4015x - I see docs and a driver manager utility, but no actual driver.

Oh... I searched for your 4600n, and got the same failing download as you do in the very final step of the process.

Well it would appear that there must be a temporary problem with the HP site:
550 /pub/softlib/software12/COL39348/lj-95981-2/upd-pcl6-x64-5.3.1.10527.exe: No such file or directory.
This is EXACTLY the same error message as I noted at the end of my earlier response, and is the message I receive when I get to my final link as well, and actually try to download one of the supposedly available drivers. Clearly this is unintentional, but nevertheless the current situation. It's not you or what you're doing... it's HP's problem on their software site.

I have submitted my own reply for the "was this helpful?" questionnaire produced when I tried to do my own download of the latest 5.3.1 drivers dated 7/1/2011 from my 2605dn dialog, saying "NO! IT WAS A COMPLETE FAILURE!!".

Hopefully this should be repaired fairly quickly. I may phone them tomorrow to remind them of this issue.

    This?

HP Universal Print Driver Series for Windows - Download drivers and software - HP Business Support Center

But why universal driver? Get hold of the specific driver for your model, it'll give you more functions and control.

With the number of HP units we use, the UPD greatly reduces the number of drivers we have to maintain. With the current problem at HP though, it doesn't appear to be easy to get Win7 drivers for some of my specific models either

Spoke with HP on the phone about this.

They are aware of the problem and are working to correct it.

I'd guess it might be corrected by today, or pretty soon.

Thanks for contacting them. I was banging my head against a concrete wall yesterday trying to get this driver.

I have Windows 7 64bit, and HP P2015dn. I found the following driver, installed it, and it worked like a charm. In fact it found my network printer faster than any HP printer driver before:

    HP Universal Print PCL6 Driver Download for Windows Vista 64-bit / 2003 64-bit / XP 64-bit Version: 4.1
