Removed device from computer, Windows keeps trying to install drivers

I attempted to install a Sony Bluetooth speaker on my Win 7 64-bit laptop. It would not work so I went to removed the device from the devices and printers section. The computer correctly showed it as removed. However, when I start the computer, it is still trying to install drivers in the Other Devices section of Device Manager. The drivers are labeled "Bluetooth Peripheral Device". The drivers do not install because no device exists.

Computer: Dell Latitude e6520 running Win 7 64-bit
    Broadcom Dell Wireless 375 module
    Broadcom driver version # 12.0.0.8047

I would like to remove the drivers and not have Windows keep trying to install drivers to a device that does not exist. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Issue Steps:
    1) Removed Speaker from computer
    2) Uninstalled Microsoft Bluetooth Emulator driver in Device Manager under Bluetooth Radio
    3) Uninstalled Bluetooth Peripheral Device drivers listed under "Other Devices"
    4) Restarted the computer and Windows then reinstalled Microsoft Bluetooth Emulator successfully
    5) Windows then attempts to install the drivers for the "Bluetooth Peripheral Devices" and the drivers do not load successfully because there is no device.

I receive the following error message under driver details:

The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28) There is no driver selected for the device information set or element. To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver.
I don't have the speaker hooked up
I just want to remove the drivers and these entries under the other devices section

Welcome to Seven Forums C5Longhorn. Do you have a System Restore point from before you tried to add the speaker?

Thank you A Guy for the welcome and suggestion. I have not tried a system restore and will look into that. I do have an image I could reload but hope to avoid going down that road if I can.

Let us know if the System Restore didn't solve your problem. There are other way to tackle this problem before you need to restore a prior image.

I agree; try the restore windows in system tools. If that does not work to solve the issue let us know ans we can go from there.

Well, I did not have a system restore backup of my data in a point of time when I tried to install the BT speaker. I bit the bullet and loaded a near factory image on the device because I'm OCD and it would bug me to still have the issue.

Another site suggested turning off the auto driver update but that seems like a work around because I would still probably have a corrupt registry entry somewhere? Is this a valid assumption?

I also realize now you all were probably talking about just rolling back software updates rather than a full data backup. Doh!

Thanks again for the responses and I would still appreciate any feedback.

In addition to uninstalling the device from the system; try going here and see if this program helps to clear out the registry entries for the bluetooth device: Puran Registry Cleaner - Cleans Windows Registry in a click

EDIT: hopefully downloading, installing, and running the cleaner in the above link will help to remove the entries from the windows registry.

The drivers do not install because no device exists.
Windows detects a device and, once detected, THEN installs a driver. What appears listed under "Other" devices is a device that has no driver.

So, IMHO, the next step would have been to identify what device was appearing under Other devices (and why)

In any case, if you already loaded an old image, hopefully your problem is gone

Yeah, I loaded my pristine image and moved on. I know what it thought was there. It thought the BT speaker I tried to connect was still present even though I removed it from devices and it wasn't physically around.

So are you basically saying you had no choice but to load the "working" image of the hard drive where everything was working properly? What about the system restore; did that do anything?
