Device Recognition happens first. After recognition, Windows searches for a suitable device driver. Windows doesn't need the device driver to recognize the device, it needs it before it can use the device functionality So i don't think the ser USB driver is the issue... Your problem on the machine is the device can't be recognized.... but we'll still attempt to clean ser driver things up as sometimes ain't nothing 100% sure about Windows computers!
But first,
1. Have you reinstalled the chipset drivers for your computer??
2. Can you tell me which BIOS version you're running on your computer?
3. For the computer that worked, what version of Windows was running? was it 32 or 64 bit?
