    Nvidia drivers problem

    Hey
Recently I made fresh install of Windows 7 home premium x64. Everything was fine except Nvidia drivers. It starts installing, then it loads like quarter and stays like that about 10 minutes. Then installer says that no modifications made and try again later. I have tried 190.62 and 191.07. Anyone know whats the problem and how to fix it?

Where did you get the drivers from?

    NVIDIA, Drivers, Crashes, etc

OK. Here's what I've experienced and learned so far. Am running an HP with NVIDIA 7900 GT/GTO card. Upgraded (clean install) from XP to W7. Installation finished 99.99%. Crashed. Flickering screen. Restarted. Said all was ok. Started using PC. Tried to view a graphic. Crashed. Flickering blue screen. No error message. Just blue. After troubleshooting with MS for hours, they said I needed to disable the NVIDIA card and tell HP I needed an updated driver (was using the new ones like you). HP said, tough luck. Pay us 99$ for a driver. I told them that was silly.
Next I uninstalled the card, rebooted and searched windows updates. It found an ATI driver and installed it. PC worked fine with better graphics than the giant icons on my screen after removing the nvidia card (vga mode). BUT, went to view graphics and they looked terrible. SO..
Put card back IN machine. Did NOT install W7 drivers for it. Then discovered I could change the default viewer from W7 photo viewer (new default) to photoshop. Now it works fine. Have the card in, minus new driver...it is using whatever default is built in as an alternative. Again, try changing your default photo viewer from W7 photo viewer to something else like photoshop. For me this temp workaround is doing the trick. There is obviously a problem with the NVIDIA card, W7 default photo viewer, and the drivers out there. Hope this helps.

I can't believe HP wanted you to buy a driver for $99! That's completely ridiculous .

Wow...I did the same thing clean install from XP to Win 7 x64 and I have an Nvidia 8500GT but I got my drivers from the BFG Tech website(the manufacturer of my card) and installed them after my installation completed and had no issues.

So, if you know who made your card you might try the manufacturer website for drivers.

As it should. Doesn't matter who made the card, Nvidia still writes all the drivers for them.
