I downgraded to 7 professional from 8 preinstalled...(yay) but now I am having problems with my rivers. 3 in problems with drivers, and the manufacturers are unknown for my hardware devices.

PCI Device
USB Controller
I need generic drivers for these items or help identifying them.

Hello and welcome shaggy mate run this and ignore the update pop up and remove the satellite window on the right click on each device and it will show what it is in the right hand panel. See my pic HWiNFO, HWiNFO32/64 - Download < pick the right bit version.

What is the exact Model Number of your Laptop ? ...
Hi McGreedy, welcome to the Seven Forums.
Your specs only tell that you have an HP laptop but not the exact model, so giving you the correct URL for driver downloads is not possible.
Go to HP Drivers and Downloads for Printers, Scanners and More | HP ® Support and search for your exact laptop model:
Select your laptop from search results. If OS selection is shown, select Windows 7:
Download and install drivers for CHIPSET:
Chipset driver is the most important and should take care of at least SM Bus and USB controller drivers. After installing it, reboot and check Device Manager, there should be no more drivers missing. If however a driver is still missing return to driver download page and download it.
That should take care of your issue.

Shaggy I would like to see the brands personally through HW Info to pinpoint the devise brand. But a lor more info as the others have said is the most important thing mate.
