"Application has stopped working" with clean Windows 7 install

    Hi there,

Recently switched a laptop for a family member back from Windows 8 to Windows 7, thought all would be fine, but am running into some issues.

The laptop is an HP Envy Sleekbook 6 1126sa: HP ENVY Sleekbook 6-1126sa Product Specifications | HP® Support - and their site only lists drivers for windows 8.

After some googling I managed to find drivers for most things, apart from the touch pad, which is overly sensitive to clicks, and not sensitive enough to movement now. I'm sure that this could be fixed however with the correct driver, but do not know where to find it! Anyone?

The HP site says the touchpad is a: HP ImagePad with on/off button

The biggest problem though, is that a LOT of programs such as itunes, vlc, etc, did not work the first time I tried to run them, saying "_Application name here_ has stopped working" after clicking on their shortcut. However, if I then set them to run in compatibility mode for Windows 7, they'd work fine!

Not a huge issue, but it is irritating, and I'd like to know if anyone has any idea if it's fixable. I wonder if this too could be a driver issue? Though it's so inconsistent on which programs it does it with that I have really no idea.

Weirdly, the first program this error surfaced with, was when trying to run the Windows Performance Index thing, is the only additional info I can think of to start with.

    Any help appreciated, thanks!

Try running the Windows Experience Index again when you get the time .. If you get any errors please Post them ..You can find the Log Files in ... C:\Windows\Performance\WinSAT\DataStore If you can upload the file i will have a look at it ..
