    Thanks Derek

I'm curious if WU will offer skip AMD version 8.881 to replace version 14-4-win7-win8-win8.1-64-dd-ccc-whql
I was confused the first time WU offered the AMD driver shortly after I updated the AMD driver, both being WHQL.

That is a little confusing, I've only had WU offer drivers if I haven't updated for quite a while.

It is, as you said before, not as fast at getting updated drivers through WU so it's possible it would skip a version if a more recent one has made it in their loop.

As for your situation, I'm guessing it didn't catch it fast enough and offered you the previous version.

I was just pointing out that if it comes through WU it has been WHQL certified.

    Back to the OP now...

I actually ran the game and it works fine from what i've seen so far, however i noticed a small detail, a little green line popped up on the top left corner of my screen it's like an inch long, but aside from that evrything works fine, but if this doesnt work I was thinking about getting a new graphic card, however i'm worried about getting the same problem with the driver.

Good news about the game - that's what started this thread.

I was about to retire fully for the evening and this thread ran through my mind.

About the game suggesting an update.
It might have meant a more powerful graphics card, not an update to the AMD GPU. Not sure about that.

    About the driver update message.
That might have been a normal Windows message informing you that the driver was installed and ready to use.

If you launch AMD Catalyst Install Manager (CIM) from Control Panel > programs and Features > AMD (select repair)
it will tell you what needs updating (I think). Inactive boxes (greyed out) mean the component is up to date - everything should be up to date.

If you have graphics heavy aps (games can be) a new card is a good idea. I can only speak with experience about on board AMD GPUs on update issues, but I don't recall any member's threads about add-on cards and WU.

The green line.... have you restarted the machine? Please post a screen shot after a restart if the issue is still present.

I'll post again - there are some things you can cleanup - Fusion isn't needed, cCleaner can stay, I'm sure there are a few other things but they can wait - it's just housekeeping stuff.

I'm off for the evening and tomorrow. Hurricane Arthur is coming up the coast, should be no problem, but the net was lost tonight and that was only high winds from a westerly storm.

It was a pleasure working with you - sure the AMD stuff not installing is no fun, but you stayed with it all the way through.

Try booting into safe mode with networking - report how the machine behaves.

    Thanks

Shouldn't matter, but try the old card - you know that worked at one point.

Safe mode should not load the GPU driver and only load the base VGA driver.

    Let's see...

Are you saying that in Safe mode

with the new card things work ok
with the old card nothing appears?

    This is perplexing.

Is the fan spinning on the 6770 when in safe mode?

Also please elaborate on my computer does not detect the new graphic card.
Does it not show up in Dev Mgr?

Can you put the new card in another slot?

Boot into safe mode until we know the card and slot is ok.
If I recall, this is a used machine and the board or slot might be flaky.

    Thanks

I'm saying that with the new graphic card the vga driver works ok, even without safe mode, however with the old graphic card I get a black screen from the get go, it seems that the vga driver does not load properly.
And yes the graphic card does not show on device mgr, only the standard vga card. Here's a shot:trouble updating driver for AMD Radeon 6570 HD-dmgr.jpg
The fan is not spinning on 6770 while in safe mode.
The new card is pretty big so I can't put it in another slot.
I asked around and somebody mentioned that it might be an issue with the motherboard?
