Windows 7: pci simple communication controller

The PCI Com-Con is on Intel based motherboards only and used for remote updates within an IT network so I don't know why HP (or someone) would want to use that unless they want to peek into your PC. That's not how normal updates occur. The drivers for that should be on your motherboard disc or from the MB OEM site and included with the chipset drivers. The other piece of it is call the Management Engine Interface. But as I mentioned, you don't need that either unless your PC is part of a business IT network. In which case, your PC would be under the IT department control.

I was never able to delete the hardware until recently. It would always come back after a reboot so I blocked Windows driver updates and deleted the drivers for it. It used to run all the time in the background and I don't need it. I think Intel issued a hidden patch for the PCI Com-Con. I saw it flash by just ahead of a network adaptor update from Intel.

In any case, don't install the entire HP software package. Choose Custom Install and select the printer drivers only. See if that works. I normally do that for all my printers since I don't need all the extra crapware they try to load anyway.

After my last post on this thread, I went to installing XP, but failed!
Then I didn't see any choice except returning back to a new Win 7, fully updated.
After updating, I will go the way of installing all drivers. But I know I'll have the problem not installing the PCi-co again.
Here is an snapshot from my device manager, after installing all Windows 7 updates, and before installing the drivers;

Yes, that's right. I'm downloading the driver from ecs site (vista 32 bit & xp 32 bit) and installing them. I must after these, continue the rest of the way.

After installing drivers, now I need to install multimedia controller and Multimedia video controller by Windows driver update (on line).

And about the PCI-con, I obtained some info about the details of it:

Honestly, this computer is not mine, it's my friend's. So I haven't put the PCi modem or anything else into mobo, but when I opened it I saw one card which was installed next to VGA card that supplies the ports for dial-up connecting.

The first app (from DELL), Could not find the MODEM device for this driver.
And the second app, installed somethings (process was by a black & white screen and then wanted me to restart the PC. I restarted but no changes occurred!
