Unable to install Synaptics due to UAC
Hi there,
I'm having some serious problem with touchpad driver installation on my laptop.
I did download original drivers from manufacturer official website for my touchpad (Synaptics), unfortunatetly I can't run them on my Windows 7 64-bit.
The pop-up says:
To install this application, the local security policy option 'User Account Control - Detect application installations and prompt for elevations should be enabled'
Well, this supposed to be easy to fix, but it isn't.
I did change the settings of Local Policies by enetering secpol.msc, Security Options -> User Account Control - Detect installations and prompt for elevations' - I switched it on, i.e. mark as enabled, but it didn't change anything.
The worst thing is that, after I've reboot the computer it seems to me that this change has been lost completely. I mean, I did check it once again and for some strange reason it changed to Disabled.
Switched it on again, tried to install driver -> same pop-up screen ;/
To install this application, the local security policy option 'User Account Control - Detect application installations and prompt for elevations should be enabled'
Does it mean, I'm lacking administrator priviliges or supposedly I meant to switch off other security options in order to install any drivers ?
I'm logged as administrator, but sometimes those settings do not remain changed, as they should ;/
Not to mention, that even with those settings changed I still can't install any driver on my original Windows 7 ;/
Can anyone help me out with this ?
