    Problem with wifi driver

Am trying to install 7 on a Toshiba A200 Satellite but am having great difficulty in finding the driver for wifi adaptor if indeed it has one, because I shall need the internet connection for activation updates etc etc.

Have scoured just about everywhere for the darn thing and am getting nowhere. Also the machine will require a wifi connection as the new owner does not have a landline broadband option.

    Any ideas please.

Thanks Brian I found the driver in the device driver but cannot find it any reference to but this
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Det...ng&ProdId=2259 I am not going to hold my breath though mate because I cannot access nothing in the way of drivers for this particular machine (it is this region's model - PSAF3A-08202D) or anything at all really.

So I have saved the driver for 32bit driver to a stick and am going to try and uninstall the drivers and reboot Windows and hope it does something in the way of reinstalling the drivers. If I cannot get this thing to work with wifi then I might have to buy the girl (my partners daughter) a economy priced machine.

It isn't necessary to replace the machine if wifi stops working, you can just buy an inexpenisve USB dongle on line.

But have you confirmed the switch, which may be a hotkey, is on? Google to find its location or Manual to read where to find it.

Next, what Devices are shown for Network Adapters in Device Manager? Try updating Automatically. Plug in by ethernet cable, enable Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3),
check for Updates, then install all Important and Optional Updates, with reboots, until no more are offered.

If no Wireless adapter is listed under Network Adapters in Dev Mgr, then what other devices are shown in error with an ! mark on them? You can click on each to look at its Details, find the Hardware Identification and google the top number to find out what the make/model of the device is to google its driver.

If still no joy, access the port with the wireless adapter under the laptop to reseat it checking that connections are clean.

Greg there are two net connections shown in the Device Manager one is the Intel wireless and the other is one for an Ethernet cable connection. The machine I set up with 7 with the cable connected and it works ok but am damned if I can get the wifi adaptor to pick up the wifi device.

There are no yellow markers against either and updating the driver tells me the right ones are there already. But when I try connecting to the 3G device it whirls away and then pops up a message to say it is going to redial again in........seconds

Like in my reply to Brian I cannot find any links to drivers for that model Toshiba.

I think I might have to try a dongle and see what happens.

PS Meant to mention I do not have access to cable connection where I am right now.

Sorry late reply Greg but am taking the machines (I have two) back to my place today and for most of tomorrow as my partner (also a nurse) is working back to back shifts, and before I have to go pick her up.
I can get this thing hooked up via cable and try and get some sense out of it - at least access the net and get the drivers and info as I am determined to not le this thing beat me. I tried using that wireless switch (FN+F8) but it is obviously part of the bloat I wiped with the clean OEM install.

The other machine still has Vista on it and maybe I can use that function somehow to turn on the wifi.
I shall be able to send pics as well from my place of the screens I am getting as I have been diving between the only online machine I have for net access to the ones I have been trying to get going and frankly it was driving me mad Googling ideas then switching to the machine/s and getting no result.

It is very frustrating when the network on the taskbar tells me there is access available and I cannot get it going .
But thanks for hanging in there with the rest of the others I do appreciate it I know I am a bit of a pain

So you confirmed in the Manual that a FN key controls the wireless switch?

Is there an LED that lights to prove whether the switch is On?

I'd pull in the FN key driver from the PC's Support Downloads webpage until the FN keys work and then check to be sure Wireless switch is On.

Yes mate it is the FN+F8 keys and I shall have to try and find that driver because as I said earlier finding any drivers for that regional model (PSAF3A-08202D) is nigh impossible. The search for that regional model comes up nothing at all the nearest I can get is the A210 pro so I am going to have to try that and see.

As far as I can see there are no LEDs flashing or otherwise when those keys are used. Things might change if I can get onto the cable connection.

I am loathe to try the Toshiba forum as it is so slow and sometimes one never gets any replies.

Strange how your Model Number is not on the Aus site John .. Plenty of PSAF Models but none with the 3 after that
