Windows 7 is phenomenal in its driver database, it recognised every piece of hardware I and my friends had ..... BUT, there seems to be a problem. My newtwork card [D-Link DFE-520TX PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter] was behaving really erratically and causing abnormal ping spikes, once I installed the driver that came with the nic it became alright again! Similarly, audio driver installation from motherboard's site really boosted my pc's audio performance.
In xp my not installing AMD processor driver was creating lockups, here also i experienced the same, so I installed AMD processor driver from AMD's site (I expected problems using compatibility mode, but it was surprisingly hassle free). So far its working just fine.
