Asus P5K-E/WiFi AP - Wireless driver with W7

    Hi,

I have an Asus P5K-e/WiFi AP and am interested in installing W7. I looked on Asus' support site and they dont have a wireless driver for W7, only a LAN driver.

Anyone come across a wireless driver for this mobo for W7?

Hi, i also tried to install a driver for the wifi on my P5K-E/WiFi AP, but i didn't work.
My devicemanager shows the Realtek RTL8187 as unknown device.
How did you managed to use a windows driver?

Another problem is, since i installed Win7, the wifi on XP isn't working too.
    Does anybody know this problem?
I heard about a similar problem with the sound, but in my case the sound works.

I connected my PC to the internet using hardwire. Then ran windows update and the driver for the realtek will be there.

    hi,

i tried it with the update, but it didn't work.
do you also have the RTL8187_Wireless on your board?
it should be the same, but maybe it's a different one.

Yes I have the exact same wireless card. Not sure why its not working out for you, I simply ran Windows Update and the wireless driver was installed. Maybe you have a different mobo or wireless card?

The version that Windows update put onto my PC (as of Dec 2009) didn't work for me.

However, to get it working I uninstalled in Device Manager then downloaded the latest drivers for W7 (available in Jan 2010) from Realtek website. Easy.
