    Hp Pavillion DV6-6C77sa achi Driver.

I am in the process of installing windows 7 64bit on a Hp Pavillion DV6-6C77sa, but the achi Driver will not let me instal it so it can see the hard drive, i have downloaded the drivers from hp and extracted them into a folder on my usb stick, browsed for the file and it sees the compatible hardware (chipset) but will not find any new devices to instal windows to it.
    Thanks in advance

I think you mean AHCI/Advanced Host Controller Interface. Have you looked in the BIOS Setup to see if the HDD is recognized? If it's not seen there Windows will not see it. One thing about SATA HDDs is sometimes the F6 key has to be pressed when prompted, at the bottom of the screen, to allow installing a driver for a SCSI drive from disk, works for SATA, and point to where that driver is stored.

    Sorry, my fast fingers lol.
    AHCI.
I ended up putting the hard drive in another Hp and installed the bare windows 7 files.
The bios is locked so it couldn't be Changed to ide or equivalent.
All sorted now anyway. Thanks for the reply.
