Toshiba Satellite not charging after Factory Reset and Windows upgrade

Hi, today I got a laptop, Toshiba Satellite A215-S7416 to be specific. It's an older laptop but I needed something to use currently because I'm having major problems with my main computer. It came with Windows Vista Basic. I decided I'd upgrade the OS so I upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit and formatted the hard drive before doing so, because the previous owner had a lot of left over junk that made the computer slow. It's running perfect currently, but it's not charging my battery. While the computer is off the battery light will light up orange, signaling it's charging. But when I start up the computer the light goes off and the charging icon at the bottom right has a red x and tells me to consider replacing my battery, and that it's at 0% and isn't charging. I'm going to attach a screen shot showing the icon. For reference I've downloaded all the updates for my windows, include the SP for Windows 7. I've also tried to uninstall the battery's driver and restart the computer, and it's did nothing.

Also here are some specs for this laptop:
2gbs of ram
1.7ghz dual core cpu (amd)
~110gb hdd

As you say its a new laptop for you, are you sure the battery is in fact good? You could run this to check its capacity etc. BatteryInfoView - View battery information on laptops / netbooks

Guarantee it's good. I got it from my grandmother who's had the laptop and taken very good care of it. And it didn't have the battery problem until after I updated the OS.

Here is the results from that program though.

You could also try a system file check. Couldn't hurt anyway and may fix any corrupted system files. We have many excellent tutorials here at the forums, heres one on how to do that if you haven't before. Just click the link : SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

The first sfc said that it found things it couldn't fix, so I rebooted the computer and then ran sfc again and it said it didn't pick up anything.
