driver for hitachi deskstar E7K1000 HDE721010SLA330

Hi, just got my new 1tb hard drive in and installed it. It installed a driver from 2006 but i want a more current driver. Windows computer area does not see the drive and im thinking it might be the driver.

I checked out hgst.com but no dice. I cant find the driver anywhere by googling. I found the data sheet but no driver. Any ideas where i can get one? And is this why the computer does not see the drive, its in my device manager but not on the computer view.

The drivers supplied in the Windows installation are all you need. There really aren't new drivers available.

Have you gone to Disk Management to initialize, and format the drive? Unless you do, Windows will not see the drive.

no but im there now thanks, this is just going to be for storing data not booting, so do i choose mbr or gpt for partition style?

And do i disable write cache on the drive?

I would choose MBR and don't disable the write cache.

    You're welcome.

With regard to write caching, I have always left it set to the default (on) for performance but you will find others that feel that if the power fails during a write to the disk, the possibility of data corruption is not a risk they desire to take.

I have always used a UPS and have never had an issue.
