ACER ASPIRE 5536G Strange Problem I have an ACER ASPIRE 5536, for those who don't know, at the top right corner there is a 'P' button, which is a programmable button and is used to launch the Launch Manager.
For some strange reason, after formatting and installing windows 7 x64, and even windows vista, the button works fine when pressed, BUT it doesn't light up like it used to when I bought it from ACER.
It has a blue LED so that when pressed a nice blue color lights up. Basically my problem is all about the LED, the button itself works fine. I was told maybe I have to install some particular drivers, any ideas? No need to tell you that from ACER website I haven't found anything and no one wants to help...great customer care service after sales.
Please help me out guys,
Thanks! | My System Specs | | OS WINDOWS 7 x64 CPU INTEL Q9300 Motherboard ASUS Memory 4GIG DDR2 Graphics Card ATI RADEON HD 3870x2 Monitor(s) Displays SAMSUNG Screen Resolution 1680x1024 PSU 880W Hard Drives SEAGATE BARRACUDA RAID0 500 x 2 Internet Speed ADSL 8Mbps |

Look in device manager for any ! marks or devices missing a driver. If there are, right click on it. Properties. Details tab. Change dropdown box to hardware ids. Copy and paste results to here. We can use it to find a driver. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number self built OS 7600.20510 x86 CPU P4 550 3.4 GHz HT running at 3.5 GHz Motherboard MSI PM8M3-V (MS-7211 v1.x) Micro-ATX mainboard Memory OCZ 2 GB(2x1GB) DDR400mHz running @ 414 mHz Graphics Card HIS Radeon HD 3850 IceQ 3 Turbo HDMI Dual DL-DVI AGP Sound Card MOTU Traveler firewire studio interface 192 kHz 24 bit Monitor(s) Displays 22" widescreen Acer X223W LCD, 17" Compaq P75 CRT Screen Resolution 1680x1050 and 1280x1024 Keyboard Logitch Classical Keyboard 200 Mouse Logitech Mediaplay cordless PSU 350W generic Case Cybertronpc, it glows blue Cooling stock cpu fan, Ice-Q 3 gpu and system, many case fans Hard Drives SATA I x2 WD, 400 GB and 120 GB, SATA 2 WD Caviar Black 1 TB Internet Speed 1792/448 kbits/sec Other Info SATA II PCI fake RAID adapter, 1 GB Readyboost, original ATI Remote Wonder (even works with WMC perfectly), Logitech Rumblepad 2 game controller x2 |

There's no missing driver in device manager. Maybe it lights up by using a specific software. The problem is that when I bought the laptop I didn't have any software cds.
Even a 3rd button next to the bluetooth button, that doesn't work at all. Originally when pressed it used to launch the backup manager. I saw on the internet there are several applications like epower management, ebackup manager etc...but I can find anywhere to download them, or suitable one for my 5536G. | My System Specs | | OS WINDOWS 7 x64 CPU INTEL Q9300 Motherboard ASUS Memory 4GIG DDR2 Graphics Card ATI RADEON HD 3870x2 Monitor(s) Displays SAMSUNG Screen Resolution 1680x1024 PSU 880W Hard Drives SEAGATE BARRACUDA RAID0 500 x 2 Internet Speed ADSL 8Mbps |

No not even in the maunfacturer's website, I mean the devices work all of them, its just the led. I dont know what could have been different in order for the LED to work. I just need to confirm someone with the same laptop model to see if it works. | My System Specs | | OS WINDOWS 7 x64 CPU INTEL Q9300 Motherboard ASUS Memory 4GIG DDR2 Graphics Card ATI RADEON HD 3870x2 Monitor(s) Displays SAMSUNG Screen Resolution 1680x1024 PSU 880W Hard Drives SEAGATE BARRACUDA RAID0 500 x 2 Internet Speed ADSL 8Mbps |

Yes i know mate! I have that one installed in my notebook, it still doesn't lit up the LED, thats my problem, I have the correct driver the button works, but the LED won't light up since I formated the notebook and installed it again.
I have tried installing Vista and Win 7, but even after installing the correct drivers the button doesn't light up. I told you it was a strange problem. I need to know if someone had the same problem after re installing windows. | My System Specs | | OS WINDOWS 7 x64 CPU INTEL Q9300 Motherboard ASUS Memory 4GIG DDR2 Graphics Card ATI RADEON HD 3870x2 Monitor(s) Displays SAMSUNG Screen Resolution 1680x1024 PSU 880W Hard Drives SEAGATE BARRACUDA RAID0 500 x 2 Internet Speed ADSL 8Mbps |

Hey Drowsy,
I had a similar problem with Windows 7 and the LED for my mute button. It was completely a driver issue, just had to install the right one for my sound. If you install all the drivers from their site, eventually you'll come across the working one.
Try the Vista drivers too, most of them still work fine. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Zen Productions OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Intel i7-860 Motherboard Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD4P Memory Corsair Dominator 1600Mhz, 8-8-8-24 1.65v 2x2GB Graphics Card ATI Radeon 5770 HD Sound Card Intel High Definition Sound Monitor(s) Displays Samsung P2570HD Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Logitech G110 Mouse Logitech MX Revolution PSU Corsair CMPSU-750HX 750W Case Antec p183 Cooling Corsair H50 Water Cooler Hard Drives Western Digital Caviar Black 500gb Internet Speed 768 mb/s |

Hi there. got the same problem here with my acer 5935G, when I upgraded to Windows 7 after formatting all the acer support programmes -epower,esettings,eFramework & erestore (the one that launches by the left button) but i managed to install all my drives correctly -even VGA drive is working with both cards (have 2 cards one intel works alone with Save power plan & the other is NVIDIA 130 that works with the other plans) but till now I can't make this laptop give me the nice light blue screen when plugin or when i chose increase performance power plan ever after trying to install all Acer supporting programmes (they didn't work correctly even after Troubleshoot compatibility). So could any one help me in this subject please cause i'm going crazy here | My System Specs | | |
