Windows 7: BIOS Update required to run CPU at full speed?..

Oh, btw.. At that messige that I get be4 even getting to chose which OS to run, it says - Unsupported CPU or smth. Needs BIOS update. Atm will run on safe mode or smth like that which is 4GHz. So, if I have dual core - I'm using 2Ghz per core even tho I should be using 2.7?

If you goto you motherboards (ASUS) home page/cpu support,Motherboards - P5VD2-VM SE - ASUS
you'll see that the E5400 is not on the supported cpu list. What ever changes Intel made Asus decided not to or could not support with that motherboard, it's entirely possible it a hardwar/chipset issue, along with a bios issue.

As you have seen, the chip will run, but not at it's rated speed.
There were no E5000s in the Core 2 Duo Family, they belong to Pentium Dual Core.
