    Directx 11 - 10 - 9 Issue, Compatability ?

    Im using Directx 11.
some of my games, that require Dx10 or Dx9 give me an error when I
try and run them, saying, "Missing dx**dx9.dll or dx10.dll , etc etc.

how are you supposed to run Dx 9 and 10 games, with dx 11 ?
    Shouldnt dx 11 support dx 9 and 10 ?

DX11 is there, it just doen't have all the older DX10-9 files. Its always good to let DX setup run it will keep the newer files there and just add the older ones.

Win7 comes with the stock/bare DX9, basically what you need to make basic DX9 programs run, but the updates and stuffs isn't on their. Why? Probably to save disc space for when they install (both your hdd and the DVD installer). So You'll have to get the DX updates (DX9c I think?) to run most DX9 games.

I've been dealing with the exact same problem in the last few days. According to another thread, W7 only has DX11, and core versions of DX9.0c, DX10, and DX10.1 installed.

Thus, if you're game requires more than the core release of 9.0c, you have to install it.
