I'm sorry, I didn't even see that. I am running check disk right now, it paused on a section for awhile but is chugging away just fine right now. I will run DriveCleanup as soon as the checkdisk is done.
There were a few things in the application logs that suggest a course of action.
1) Uninstall Kraken
2) Clear out your %TEMP% folder
restart the machine - anything working?
No, try creating a new user profile and logging in with that ID.
I have to look at the system log, so let me know if I can stop looking at logs

Ok, it happens to all of us - "Gee, I missed that one important line"
I blame it on my cheap dollar $tore glasses, but I think people are catching on to that
Ok, finished trying all of those and no change.
Ran drivecleanup, rebooted
Ran the microsoft fix, rebooted
Uninstalled Kraken

Ok ... try this
Launch System Configuration (msconfig)
Services tab:Hide all Microsoft services
Press the [Disable All] button
Startup tab: Press the [Disable All] button
save and restart
For the remainder of these exercises, restart the machine after you complete a suggestion
- I'll add a line if I DO NOT want you to restart :)
