Anyone know how to get all special keys (fn, media) working on a Sony Vaio in Windows 7? Obviously Sony has no drivers for these and no, the Vista versions do not work at all. Tried already.

I'm using Windows 7 ultimate, 32bit.

Sony Vaio VGN-nr110es

Thanks.

You can assign sleep to the power button in power schemes, and use the jump lists in the taskbar. So you have been to the sony site, and cant find the utilites, or you found them, as I interpret, and they wont install? Recheck the site - your missing something, or installing them in the wrong order, or whatever, I think if your reply to the persons concerned in the links I supplied, or follow the steps they took to fix their sony's you may come up with something - they would only be too pleased to help you in any case.

I forgot to mention compatibility mode with vista if they have a OS mismatch error when you try to install them, or you can unzip them, and install them thru the device manager which bypasses the installer.

To install a driver OR program in compatibility mode - right click the setup.exe file - click properties - click compatibility - check run in compatibility with vista/xp etc - check run as administrator - leave the rest blank. Start setup.exe and install.

Good Luck :)

I had the same problem trying to upgrade my wife's NR-110e to the 64 bit version of Win7 Home Premium, but was able to get almost everything to work with the 32 bit version. You need to load some of the vista drivers and they don't work with the 64 bit version.

Load 32 bit version of Win7
From the Sony site, download
1. System Components
Firmware Extension Parser
Sony Shared Libraries
2. Notebook Control and Utilities
3. Memory Card Reader/Writer
Memory card reader driver registry patch
Flash media controller

I ran each of the files listed in order using the Vista compatibility mode:
Right click on the file,
Go to the compatibility menu,
Click on compatibility mode,
Select Vista (service pack 3),
Click on Administrator box,
Click apply,
Run the program.

After doing this everything works. The alps touch pad works, but you can't change any of the settings. The alps vista driver indicates it has compatibilty problems with vista. We don't use the touch pad anyway...hate them.

Good Luck
