Which Display Adapter driver should I use?

I have a HP Compaq CQ56 Notebook with Windows 7 OS. The display adapter, also called a graphics or video card I understand, is an AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250. The driver version, as shown in Device Manager, is 8.770.2.2000. It is dated 29/9/2010. This driver was provided by the HP website and updated recently from the Driver Manager.

When I looked on the AMD drivers website and the AMD Drivers Auto Detect Utility I found that the recommended driver is titled '13-9-legacy_Vista_Win7_64_dd_ccc_whql.exe'. This is a more recent driver.
The AMD site adds the note that 'Chipset Drivers not included'. I do not know how relevant that note is with regard to the Display Adapter.
Would it be advisable to change to the latest AMD driver or just stick with what is there?

    Hi
Are you having problems with the display? If not don't fix what's not broke.

No, I am not having display problems, at least I don't think so. I got onto the subject of graphics drivers because I found could not wake my laptop from sleep except by switching off and back on. However, after days of trial and error (mostly error) I am coming to the conclusion that the laptop was not designed for the use of the sleep facility. I am bothered though that AMD are showing an update that does not seem to agree with HP or Microsoft. A little knowledge is dangerous so they say, especially when it comes to computers.

well you could try installing it but if you have problems just roll back the driver.
