usb ports wont work with windows 7 on samsung np470r5e ativ book 4 i5

my computers usb ports work just fine in lubuntu however only the usb 3.0 port seems to work on windows seven. i installed samsung's software update program, which installed some basic drivers for me, and then afterward had to manually hunt down drivers for the display driver, and some other various stuff. now im quite sure that i dont have the drivers for the usb ports. two of them just say "generic usb ports" or something, with the VID of 8087 0024 or something. it doesnt detect any devices with no drivers, but thats because i ran slimdrivers, which found a couple of drivers that samsung wasnt nice enough to provide... lesson learned about samsung..... how do i get the usb driver for this laptop because i havnt been able to figure it out.

Did you reinstall Windows or something? How did you loose the drivers?

I'm not sure what you mean by "hunt down" drivers. They should all be here: Samsung NP470R5E ATIV.

Be sure to install the chipset drivers for USB. USB-3 has it's own drivers.

Is Win7 a new install to replace Win8? Have seen where proper motherboard drivers for an older OS on new computers aren't available.

Also check the BIOS for a setting about Legacy USB, if it's there be sure it is Enabled [goes along with what carwiz said].

A note: Win8 is much better when Updated to Win8.1. A number of folks like customizing the Start menu, I use Classic Shell as it gives me more access/control for what I need.

Windows 8 and 8.1 are not acceptable.

That doesn't change the fact you will need to find the manufacturer's drivers, as suggested earlier.

Try here: Support - Laptops NP470R5E | Samsung PCs

About midway down the page on the right hand side. Click on "See More" to show all the drivers. These appear to be Windows 7 drivers. Install the Chipset driver first then match the other drivers to your hardware.

I didn't realize the first link was a New Zealand link.
