Thanks Arc.
Okay, I'm running the disk check again, and as for the clean reinstall of windows, I don't think I have the knowledge to do that on my own. And the page that you linked seems very complex to me. Haha
Alright then.
Also, I'll post the results of the disk check once it's finished. If the results still can be helpful at this point.
Just got off of the phone with a repair store. They're going to charge me $130 to do a clean reinstall of windows on my laptop. So I guess I'm pretty screwed.
Just got off of the phone with ASUS, and apparently my laptop has a built in recovery partition. It's actually very easy to do, and it will reinstall all of my drivers and everything. So if the results of this disk check don't help at all, I'll just do that. It seems like the best solution.
Okay, the results are that everything is clean. It said something about the file system being NTFS. Here is the results:
DJN mate from experience with an Asus ROG G750JM I bought in October last year I can only speak from that experience and that is try and find a local and I mean a local service centre because the global and "local" Asus support sites (the latter usually in the Philippines) are just about a great a waste of time and effort as one could get.
My case was having 7 installed on this machine instead of the 8 it usually comes with only to find that any drivers could only be installed after updating the BIOS!! Now I did that and still the updates did not work out especially the graphics one. Now after four wretched months of contacting the Asus sites and getting ready to bin the machine I just by chance stumbled on the really local Asus service centre in Sydney which is as you might know a large city in Australia (about 400kms away). Within an hour of speaking on the phone to a chap at that service centre my problems were fixed!! as he gave me the correct site to download the drivers from and they were quite different to what the other Asus (and NVidia) support site/s were telling me.
So wherever you are I would certainly try finding the nearest "local" service centre - that is my advice anyway for what it is worth. I see from your public profile that you might be near Chicago so I am guessing it is worth a little research for that spot if not somewhere nearer perhaps.
