Windows 10 Beta Graphics Driver Help for Dell (E1505)

Hi, as the title states I have a Dell E1505 and I'm trying to install for my Dell E1505 which has an ATi Mobility which has a ATi Mobility X1400 video card in it. Yeah, I know sounds stupid, but I was able to get Windows 8.1 GPU driver installed and working properly. I can't get that driver to work for W10 preview though. Maybe it's because W10 is still in beta, or haven't gotten around to it yet or perhaps it's just not supported and it's never going to work. I just don't know, but I have a feeling it's going to work at some point and I believe it's workable now. I think it's a just a matter of tinkering with it to make it work.

It anyone has any clues or ideas, please let me know if you have anything. BTW, I'm using Windows 10 x64 Build 9926. I have 2gigs of RAM Core 2 Duo ATi Mobility. Thanks in advance!

If you're using 2GB RAM, I'd suggest using the 32-bit version. Anyways, here are the drivers for the x1400 for 64-bit; I've been using them on my E1505 since Windows 8: Dell Inspiron E1505 drivers for Windows 8/8.1/10

Synaptics will need v16, not v17, in order to work.

Just post a link to the source, no direct downloads.

Thanks.

My apologies - the file was on my own hard drive and I uploaded it to my website's server for easy sharing. Link has been updated in the original post.

This is for the OP and any that find this thread from searching elsewhere. There is not now and never will be a Windows 7/8/8.1/10 driver for this laptop or any desktop card from the Radeon x19xx series and down as AMD declared them legacy status 5 years ago, and as such will never make a new driver for them. Any site or person that says otherwise has either modified the INF in some way, or is out to scam people for money by making them think it is a legit driver.

immewnity it is nice of you to try and help, but that driver you posted is in no way for Windows 7/8/8.1/10. What it is is a really old version (Catalyst 8.12 from the INF) that came out 7 years ago,

So while it is admirable that you are trying to help, please stop calling it a driver for Windows 7/8/8.1/10.

Obviously there's no official driver. But this one works if you would have tested it out. I've got full 1680x1050 resolution with these drivers. Believe it or not, they do work.

And I didn't say this would work with Windows 7. I don't know if it would. Last time I used Windows 7 on this computer, I believe the drivers were found just using Windows Update. Alternatively, you could upgrade from Windows Vista, where the drivers are there out of the box. (I might be confusing my Vista/7 experiences with when I was using the x1300, but I think it was with the x1400).
