    Dell does not make processors.

    Intel makes processors.

Dell makes PCs. Packard Bell makes PCs.

The "imedia s3800" is a Packard Bell model.

I have no idea where "Dell" is coming from.

You say "on the computer info it shows". What are you reading from? A book? A manual? The computer monitor?

If you are going to attempt a recovery using those recovery disks you made, you don't need any drivers. They would be included on those disks and be installed as needed.

Or are you doing something else?

    Confusion continues.

Let the confusion stop... not sure about the recovery disks so just looking for the ethernet driver...
Right-click on "Computer" and it says system manufacturer "Dell"
Computer from new and on the case has "Packard Bell"
basically would like the driver for the ethernet... (is that within the LAN? - I see that on Packard Bell website)

    computer details are
system info intel (R) core (TM) i3cpu 2.93ghz
    Serial Number PTU4602020004126D62700
    iMedia (PT.U46-PV.U46)

It would appear you have a modified PC of some type.

I don't know of any possible connection between Packard Bell and Dell. They are competitors.

Presumably manufactured and originally sold as a Packard Bell "imedia s3800".

Then someone later modified it, possibly by replacing the original motherboard with a Dell motherboard.

Where exactly are you getting that serial number from? With what mouse clicks or from what writing on paper?

If you have a Dell motherboard, you are likely to need Dell drivers, including for Ethernet.

You may effectively have a Dell rather than a Packard Bell.

Tough to say without more detail.

    Go to this website:

    Piriform.com

Download their program called "Speccy". It's free and will tell you a lot of details about what you have.

Give us the details from Speccy or better yet post a screen shot of what it says to avoid further confusion. It will tell you about the motherboard and the rest of your hardware.

Get and run Speccy as advised.

    Otherwise we are just guessing.

Problem is without the ethernet there is no internet access for that computer... Catch 22....
I have downloaded drivers from Packard Bell... (which recognised the serial number)
