    RealTek RTL8187L Drivers

Realtek has just released the Win 7 Driver for the RTL8187L wireless AP/Solo, found on Asus Motherboards. I have not tried them out yet!

    security issues

    hi,
i have installed realtek rtl8187L drivers and utility for my asrock x38 turbotwins-wifi.

I dont know if my wireless card is rtl8187L or others rtl8187X.

program works fine, but i cant modify security protocols in config window in wirtual-wifi tab, like wep/wpa mode etc. so i cant use my pc as an access point because there is a default password that i dont know

    I'm not a noob!
I sed i have installed wireless driver and i want to use my computer (not the router) as Access Point with is own settings, and i'm using it right now....

    but...

i can't change security protocol (the part in the window is gray) and if i want to change the channel i have to go in device properties in "device manager" for do it!

i'm referring to realtek RTL8187 wireless lan utility ver. 700.1604.108.2010, in the "virtual wifi" tab, config panel.

Someone know solutions? I have Asrock x38 Turbotwins-wifi with wifi module that i think is RTL8187L ( is RTL8187 series, i have doubts on "L") but i'm not sure and the only way (after all) is to open my pc and read it -_-, but i think that realtek software is smart enough to recognize hardware so....

I can relate to the frustration of member: Mustang. I was working just find with my XP on my Gateway laptop when I "okayed" a MICROSOFT security patch update and then it CRASHED. In fact, we lost 3 computers in the period of less than 24 hrs to this (just goes to show we can't even trust MICROSOFT).

Anyway, my computer guy decided to update my OS to Windows 7, which I wish he'd asked first but, whatever. Now I can't access my Realtek RTL8187_wireless internal Internet Adapter. He told me he couldn't get the driver but it didn't "register" in my head what that meant until I got home.

I've too hunted high and low for an updated driver, and to date (nearly March now) still no driver that I can find. I too had to use an external pcmcia adapter my kiddo's had in their laptops and am awaiting the arrival of my own in the mail.

I had tried to use my desktop Linksys wireless adapter, but turns out, it too couldn't get a Windows 7 driver for it (but Linksys rep reassured me they could see me a whole new adapter for $70 - gee thanks).

I guess MS is never going to work with other companies so we don't have these driver problems EVERY TIME Microsoft decides to change OS's. No wonder people have changed to alternative OS's.

If anyone reads this and is aware of an updated driver for the Realtek RTL8187_wireless internal Internet adapter PLEASE email me at: gayleannherron@gmail.com I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks
