    Hi Miss Sherlock,
As you have the recovery discs, you should not need to do anything, as one of thier own programmes is an Update program, which searches the Asus library for your model, Bios drivers as well.
Once youve re-installed if you look at the icons in the bottom right of your taskbar you will see its icon there.

    Roy

PS once youve reinstalled dont forget there will be 200+ MS updates, which will take quite a while to download and install

    Hi Torch,

Thanks so much for your quick reply.

I'm a bit leery of mucking about with the Bios. Yes, the awful Windows updates. I'll have to ensure that I do a few at a time. In the past, I've found they can really foul up a clean install.

    Cheers, :)

    Hi,
Windows updates will provide most of the basic drivers :)
After running all of the updates and excluding the ones you don't want
Then install your security don't surf the internet on the machine until all updates are loaded and your security is installed.

    Then from asus
Chipset driver should be first in line
Then check device manager for yellow triangles for devices
    Driver Install - Device Manager
Device Manager - Finding Unknown Devices
I would imagine checking the Lan and wireless/ vga driver versions to be second and if asus offers a newer one

    USB driver updates
I wouldn't bother with the Bio's updates unless serious problems are seen after install which would be very rare

    Hi Torch, Thrash and AddRam,

Thanks again for the handy list of Windows Updates to avoid. The majority of updates were successful. I'd say about three didn't take.

I was finally able to replace the internal HDD. However, it's not an SDD since they are too expensive here in Toronto at this time. I replaced it with a Western Digital 2TB (WDS0EZRX-00D8PB0). Clean install was with an Asus Recovery Disk.

    Monitor - generic - ASUS VE248Q

Tried the Intel Driver Update Utility - the page was blank!???

See below for drivers in Device Manager. Which ones should I update?

It doesn't look like you need any drivers. That text you posted are just events at a certain time.

The driver it says is missing,

    Code:
    Problem Event Name: PnPDriverNotFound
    Architecture: x64
    Hardware Id: IUSB3\ROOT_HUB30&VID_8086&PID_1E31&REV_0004&SID_84CA1043

    Is actually installed here,
