Sony VAIO Ethernet controller (code 28)

    Hi guys,

I have a Sony Vaio and i cant seem to get my ethernet to work. Now ive contacted Sony, and they have said that i can buy a recovery disc of 60€. As a student that is way to much money.

Now i hopefully can explain all this without getting it to packed, Ive checked for any drivers on the sony sites.
The only driver i saw(that had some word of ehternet :P) was 'ethernet driver' and i downloaded that.
Now the driver installs in like 2-3 seconds, which seems not right, checked at my drivers and still was giving me questionmarks

Now there are 3 drivers that come up with a questionmarkthose are in dutch but hopefully experts know what it means
    -Base system
    - ethernet controller
    - sm-buscontroller

When right clicked, i can search for drivers on the internet. but that doesnt work either.
Last but not least my modelnumber is: SVE14AA11M and my product name is: SVE14A1V1EB

I hope someone can help me out with this!

    Thanks, Tim

    drivers

    Hi Tim,
Those drivers should be on your recovery drive (D)

    Select uninstalled
Update> search MY computer> browse to recovery select drivers.
    they should be there.

    List any Problem devices
    • Click the Start Orb, type msinfo32 in the search box. Hit Enter
    • Click the + sign next to Components to expand it
    • Click Problem Devices. Anything appear?
    • If yes, click on it, Ctrl-A to select all, Ctrl-C to copy it, Ctrl-V to paste into next post
    • On the other hand, if no devices are listed, tell us so

I'm not finding your model on Sony support site (i'm guessing you also already looked). But think i have an alternate source but need more info on your hardware and problems/

Only the SM Bus controller is listed in your report? That surprised me. Does that mean the ethernet controller is installed??? Am surprised the ethernet controller not listed if it also has code 28.

If ethernet working, great. Let me know. If not, look in Device Manager does it still have a yellow icon??? If yes,
    > right click the device->Properties. On the General tab tell me the error code number
    > Select the Details tab. use pull down menu to select Hardware Ids. Copy/paste the IDs into next post
