Bluetooth headphones pair with laptop but not available for playback

    Hi

I have an Ankovo bluetooth headset that I am trying to connect to a Lenovo Thinkpad running a Win7-64 bit OS.
I was able to pair them with the machine as a bluetooth device by doing the following -
    1. 1st attempt at pairing the device failed. The device showed up with an exclamation mark in the bluetooth devices window. This seemed to be because windows did not find a driver for this device.
    2. I installed the latest BT driver from lenovo's website.
    3. This seemed to work so far as recognizing the device driver software was concerned, but the headphones still don't show up in the list of playback devices.

I've read several forums and tried doing several things; most point to the following solution, in that order.

    1. Unistall microsoft's native USB drivers (Generic Bluetooth Adapter) from Device Manager.
    2. Installing Lenovo's bluetooth drivers.
    3. Pair my earphones.

However, each time I try to uninstall Microsoft's driver and install the new one, I get an error which says the installation detects an unauthorized driver and aborts.
Refreshing the Device Manger ("Scan for hardware changes") seems to bring Microsoft's drivers right back.

Does anyone know how I can proceed?

Hello and welcome murtz mate I have problems with Blu tooth mice as it is - and I find I am constantly reinstalling the machines Blu tooth software and sometimes it just takes ages for the mice to come on line . So have the headphones ever worked at all even after a prolonged wait??

Now I do not usually resort to second party driver managers but I will use Slim Drivers when I have to - they usually use the manufacturers site for them. https://www.slimwareutilities.com/slimdrivers.php Plus I always do this slowly so to not to load anything else with it as it has a bad habit of loading utilities too so make sure it is only the Slim Drivers you sue and just for the record I always uninstall it when finished as it will nag.

To prevent a lot of those rotten add on bars etc you get sometimes with downloaded software - Adobe is a good example of wanting to add the Google bar etc etc use this Unchecky - Keeps your checkboxes clear < brilliant stuf
