samsung galaxy driver needs installing after every boot

I have a samsung galaxy S4 and the existing drivers will not recognize the phone so I installed this:
    SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones_v1.5.45.0

and it works, but when I re-boot, it again wont recognize the phone. If I uninstall that driver, then re-install it, the computer will recognize the phone until I reboot, then it's gone again.

    Any thoughts?

    windows 7 32bit.

Probably won't make any difference, but you might try the newer 1.5.59.0 version of the driver.

And then there's the 2.12.2.0 version you could also try.

I have an S4 as well (Verizon) and when the phone first connects via the USB cable it's as an "installer". I pull down the status bar where the USB connection options item is shown, tap on it, and then tap on "connect as MTP".

Connected as MTP it is now reliably accessed (both internal "phone" storage as well as external "card" storage) with Windows Explorer, Free Commands XE, etc., by the name SCH-I545 (which is the Verizon product name), not with a drive letter.
