Installing drivers from WinPE disk
I'm having problems with a Win7 desktop that will not boot -- and my best guess is that the chipset drivers need to be reinstalled.
The problem with the PC is that it refuses to recognize any USB keyboards or mice connected to it.
I have tried ALL the USB ports, front and rear, and several different keyboards and mice -- ALL of which I know to work because they work fine connected to other PCs.
The lights on each keyboard flash briefly when the PC boots but after that, pressing any keys has no effect -- which makes it difficult to use any CD or DVD that requires pressing a key to select a menu item -- which is the case with the HP Diagnostics disk.
I know I can TRY using a WinPE disk just to see if that works, but I'm asking because I don't have the PC at home (it's not mine) and it's several hours roundtrip to get to it. I'd just like to know if anyone has booted using a WinPE disk and been able to then install drivers.
Thanks in advance for any help.
