Unable to Install Dell Drivers  

Hello,

I have a Dell Inspiron 5759, Windows 7 Professional.

Since the last MS Update, I am not able to install any Dell drivers.

My Bluetooth adapter disappeared from my Device Manager, it was there before last MS update.

I tried to install the Bluetooth driver again, but received the error message: The update installer operation is unsuccessful.

I have also tried to start the Bluetooth Support Service in SERVICES and received the error message: Windows could not start the Bluetooth Support Service on Local Computer. Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

I called Dell Support, which, of course, got someone in Asia. He asked me to install several BIOS updates as well as Chipset driver. My laptop is only three months old and everything should be up-to-date before it was shipped to me I do not want to do all those updates afraid that it'll ruin my laptop further.

Does anyone know why I couldn't install the Dell drivers?

Any comments/suggestions are much appreciated.

I updated the Intel Chipset Driver, two of the others have the latest drivers already. The only one I didn't update is "Intel Management Engine Interface Driver" which I don't know if I need to or not.

After I restarted, Bluetooth still won't show up in the Device Manager. I am going to install the "Intel Dual Band Wireless AC 3160 Bluetooth Application" driver to see if it helps or not.

Will get back and post the result later.

Well, just tried to install the Bluetooth Application and got this error message: There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. I clicked OK and it did the Rolling back action and undo the installation.

That happened yesterday also when I was talking to Dell (I let him has remove control of my laptop). He saw the error message but didn't know how to fix it.

So Fireberd or anyone, any comments or suggestions?

Well, after working on and off all morning, finally I got it fixed. Here is what I did:

1. I uninstalled the following MS Updates: KB3161608 and KB3172605 (went to Intel forum and found that these optional updates prevented drivers from installing.
2. Remove my old Intel Bluetooth driver (I tried REPAIR but it didn't work)
3. Reinstall the Intel Bluetooth driver from Dell site
4. At this time, the Bluetooth still won't show up in the Device Manager. So I google around and found out that maybe my Bluetooth device was turned off by the updates. So I turned on the Bluetooth device (FN + PrtScr).

After that, my Bluetooth appeared in the Device Manager and all drivers were installed properly. So now everything is back to where it should be.
