this is the one l had obtained: Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro - - Creative Labs (United States)

l have since been in contact with Creative who informed me of an area to change the language on installation.. however this was completely useless seeing as it didnt change anything but the EULA language.. l even change my locale to english after completely uninstalling but everything was still in japanese.

below is a screen cap l saw after complete uninstallation/reinstallation this screencap was taken after trying to reinstall with the english uk locale set (it failed because it was still trying to show me everything in japanese), which proves that the dropdown only shows an english eula and nothing else..

Hmm just a thought did you try finding the reg entries for that software because I've found in the past uninstalling some software leaves reg entries behind (even using their dedicated uninstall tools) and it just might be tacked on" when you reinstall. Norton is a classic example of leaving those sorts of stuff behind as Symantec entries.

Just have a look in the HKEYs LOCAL_MACHINE and CURRENT_USER > Software listings if you decide to uninstall again - just a hunch.
But before you do that please do this in case you inadvertantly delete a key you need

Pics of what I sent to someone else to give you an idea and that Japanese looks awfully Korean to me - no expert just didn't look right for Japanese

if its Korean then there is something seriously wrong with the installer since my locale tends to be set to Japanese.. never had Korean selected ever.

to be honest, l think l have things set to somewhere around where l like them, plus lm waiting on further information from Creative (tho what l attached is the same screen they told me about to change my language which made no difference whatsoever on any install l tried.

l have taken a gander in the registry and there doesnt seem to be allot of Creative related entries

this is the only one l found that had japanese characters within: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Creative Tech\Creative Entertainment Mode Console\Mixer\USB30df

however l did find this key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Creative Tech\Creative Software Update\Settings

the reason l find it interesting is because within the keys settings there is a Country ID but no data set for it.. wondering if there is a way it can be auto-set here and when l run an update it would install an english update.. might be worth looking into when Creative finally get back to me.

Yep wait until they get back to you and just what yet suggest.

Now those reg entries if the Creative is still installed will be the reg entries for it if they were there and Creative stuff was uninstalled then and this is just me I would click on the whole entry and delete. If things go belly up then just merge the entries back from the back up one makes.

The writing on looking does look Japanese it was the rounded symbols that had me wondering. see pics.

Ok back to our problem this is something I do use from time to time when manufactures site are vague long winded or just plain unhelpful which seems like what you are experiencing
Slimware Utilities - Download SlimDrivers FREE

Now it does access manufacturers sites for driver but just a tip - 1. whenever I use it I make sure I have Unchecky installed Unchecky - Keeps your checkboxes clear this software will stop those really annoying addon ticks when downloading software for example Adobe always wants to download the Google bar or whatnot and this stops that happening I keep it on all my machines for that purpose and it is free.
    2. Only install the driver software it will try to get you to add reg checkers etc and automatically attach itself to the start up tab in msconfig and nag like hell if you leave it installed - which I don't I let it do the job then uninstall it and again check those reg entries for Software left over.
Worth a try and like I said I only use it in situations where I cannot get any sense out of say Asus or those sorts of sites.

the thing is l can use the card, drivers arent the issue its the included software namely things like thx truestudio, the panel controls the extra features which allow me to upmix the sound rather than using ffdshow my old one called it CMSS but the software didnt support Win7 so it was driver only.

so far lve only found one panel in english, not completely sure its doing much with the options tho.. that said the sound is better with this new one.

Well I am at a loss maybe I will ask fireberd to look at this and personally I would opt for an internal card with and external system.

Fow example I run an Asus Xonar DG card on both my main desktops with the Logitec Z506 on the Ivy Bridge and on my Sandy Bridge same card but the Logitec Z313 now both have got a really nice interface panel where you can mix effects equalisers etc.

So just what is it about the sonnd blaster you like as I have never come across one yet??
