    Generic pnp monitor & low refresh rate


    Hey guys!
    new to the forum and new to win7 and new to laptops so please be patient.

    I bought a lenovo g550 laptop a few weeks ago.
    it came with win7, I have downloaded all the relevant Lenovo drivers and updates
    and installed all of them!

    My problem is that win7 recognizes the screen as generic pnp monitor and doesn't let me change the refresh rate above or beneath 60hz.

    My screen is flickering in the background and it is annoying as hell!!

    is it because of the refresh rate or is it something else?
    I cant find drivers for the screen anywhere !!!

    hey, I have the same problem with my monitor refresh rate! is there anyone to help? it's really weary problem.

    i filled out some specs. my monitor has flickering in background and i don't know why there is not any choice to select except 60 hertz. i hope you can help.

My Win 7 installation causes "hide modes this monitor can't display" to not hide the modes (the option is checked, but even then it shows the higher refresh rates my monitor doesn't support). My monitor is old, and in win 7 some games try to up the refresh rate when my monitor doesn't support them!...
