just bought a windows 7 computer 64 bit.... what scanner is compatible.. went to windows compatible chart --and it says that G3110 is compatible-- bought it and its not..tried getting the drivers and they haven't been released yet..

    going to return scanner tomorrow.

    Help.. what should I buy

    Thanks, Alicia
    Alicia,

I have the Epson Perfection V500 Photo Scanner on my Win 7 Pro machine. I originally had this on my XP. After downloading the 64-bit drivers from Epson it installed and ran with no problems. I did not need to use compatability mode for it.

then i tried downloading vista 64 bit.. and it wouldn't install
    Verified;

The HP software would not install on 7, so the driver is useless because you need the software to use the scanner, IMHP.

The Windows 7 Compatibility site should not list these HP scanners as compatible!!
Time to try a different scanner.

Get a Canon MP620. Here are the drivers ( Canon PIXMA MP620 Photo All In One Printer ) - just select the OS and hit Enter. And here is the printer ( Canon Pixma MP620 All In One Photo Printer by Office Depot ). Nothing better than Canon. I have 5 of them and threw everything else out. The Canon support is outstanding.

Here is a list of compatible scanners for Windows 7: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/com...egory=Scanners. Make sure all your drivers are upgraded and go to the manufacturers website to verify the drivers are available.

    Good Luck,

    Thanks everyone.

have been doing my homework too

found a canon -- canoscan 5600f that seems to have drivers available for the windows 7.. good to know that canon has good customer service because HP is horrible.

reviews on this scanner were great.

will go to best buy tomorrow and buy it - wish me luck.

I will keep you posted in case others are having the same problem..

I went to the windows compatibility chart.. the canon mp 620 and the canoscan 5600f are compatible but they don't have the windows logo next to it so they haven't been tested by windows.

The epson perfection v500 has the windows logo next to it..and I checked to see if there are in fact drivers for 64 bit and it is there.. so i guess to be on the safe side I should get this one.

Never did so much research before.

'Never did so much research before.'

Ha ha, you'll get use to it.

I highly recommend the Canon MP600R. It's a all in one which works great with Windows7 64 bit, very good print and scan quality and fast. I changed from an HP800, and the difference is enormous.

You can pick one up on ebay from the canon shop.

Plus you get a printer too - not just a naked scanner.
