Can't install drivers for nVidia GeForce 8500 GT

That option hasn't worked for me... Thank you for assisting me in any case, I will keep trying and post here when I've solved the problem... I can't get over the discrepancy in my Device Manager with the PCI-Express device, so I'm going to try and get that working... I have a feeling it will work.

I'm also going to try plugging my monitor into the On-board port to see if I can figure anything out when the nVidia card is not in use.

Can you download HWInfo32 and see what the app says for your graphics tab. Then, open up the BIOS, disable the onboard graphics and set the PCI 16x card slot as the boot up device. Also, check the IRQ in the BIOS. They should be automatically assigned. Finally, update your other drivers too. Use the guide in my sig.

Hello,
I had the same problem that you when I installed vista and now in win7. You don’t need to install the geforce driver, but only the North Bridge ATi Express driver. Due to your PCI-E error, win7 can’t indentify you geforce. Follow these steps:
- Download the ATI Radeon driver. In my case I used these 7-8-vista32-dd_ccc_wdm_50976.exe (I have a mobo asus P5RD1)
- Install used “run as administrator” mode (left click at the icon and select run as administrator)
- After install reboot the system.
- The Win 7 automatically detected your Geforce
If the driver can’t work, try to download other in AMD site www.amd.com
Best regards,

I don't understand how or why that worked, but it did! I installed the Radeon driver, and when I restarted the nVidia driver installed! a second reboot and everything was working fine! Thanks so much for your help Michelra!
