Epson Scan Will Not Open In Windows 7

I have tried the suggested fixes but I cannot get Epson Scan to open. I have Windows 7 Priemium 64 bit and Epson Perfection Scanner V300. The software that came withe the scanner has no driver for windows 7 but I have the updated software from the Epson site for Windows 7.

I have uninstalled the driver in the device manager and loaded the updated software but Epson Scan still will not open.

Can guess I not doing something in the correct order.

    Can someone help.

    Thanks

Ok . So the Program is not installed properly so here what you can try uninstall the drivers completely then search for Epson folders on computer then rename the folder to Epson.old. Clear the Temp files. Then reboot the system Download the latest software and driver from Epson website installed them. Then when you try to open them don't just double click on it. Right click on then icon and say " Run as admininstrator "

    Hope that helps

Scan UTILITY "minimized" on task bar. Unable to maximize, to bring up the scanning screen.
Epson V500 - experienced that scan software would launch, but be minimized on the task bar. Called Epson support, they have no record of this being a problem. Answer was, try it on another computer.
    Determined the following:
If you have started the scanning software, but not turned on the scanner, it will start minimized.
You must then Ctrl+Alt+Del, and "end" the scanner software instance.
Therefore, you must turn on the scanner first, allow the scanner to complete the initialization sequence.
    THEN, start the scanner software.
Noted, that if, you start the scanner software before the scanner has completed it's start-up, initialization sequence, you will again need to crash/end the software. If you did this, you must turn off the scanner, and turn it back on - wait for the intialization sequence to complete, BEFORE starting the scanning utility.

Epson Scan compatibility issue with Windows 7

I have searched high and low for a solution to this. It turns out that Epson never produced a Windows 7 version of Epson Scan, and they suggest you use the Vista build, which while download and install ok would produce an error upon start. Having tried everything, it turns out there is a bug in the Epson Scan Environment variable, the solution is at Epson Scan Utility won't work - Geeks to Go Forum

But in case that link goes dead, here it is:

Solution: Open regedit.exe and go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\EPSON\EPSON Scan\ES00BC select the "Environment" Key and delete it. This will cause the Epson Scan screen to open in the upper left corner of the screen the next time the program is launched.

Once we successfully ran the Epson Scan program the registry showed normal X,Y values for use when the program is launched again.

I followed instructions to "Open regedit.exe and go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\EPSON\EPSON Scan\ES00BC select the "Environment" Key and delete it. This will cause the Epson Scan screen to open in the upper left corner of the screen the next time the program is launched."

This worked for me except it did not open in upper left corner of the screen. However I was surprised that I was not offered the option to save my scan or not. The scanned document was named and saved directly to "My documents" folder. I could not find my scanned items and was frustrated until I noticed the date and time associated with a newly saved file that was my scanned document.

Maybe there is another step that I left out to permit Epson Scan 2 to let me save scanned items where I want them saved?

OMG, the regedit actually worked! I've been searching for a solution to this for over a year. Thank you!!! One note, make sure you exit Epson Scan before deleting the Environment key or else it will not work.
