    If there are any 64bit Vista drivers, you can use those, just be sure to install them in compatibility mode....

    Hello aliciatapp, and welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

    Here is a tutorial that might help explain what "compatibility mode" means:

    Possibly;

    You will need to look carefully to verify driver availability.

    Please don't get me started on 64 bit driver availability, I have been waiting for years for multi-media and printer/scanner manufacturers to support Windows XP Pro x64. Still waiting.

    It is the "chicken and the egg" thing. Manufacturers say there is not enough 64 bit demand to justify their investment in 64 bit software/drivers ... so with the absence of 64 bit support, the public avoids it, thereby limiting demand.

    With XP x64, it was only the newest, most expensive printers/scanners that had 64 bit support. Vista x64 has improved that much. Here are Vista 64 bit drivers for your scanner that may work for you:

    HP Scanjet G3110 Photo Scanner- Download drivers and software - HP Business Support Center

    until 7 specific drivers are made available.

    that's the one I bought-- when you go to driver downloads and click on it windows 7 ..64 -- it just takes you to list of all the scanners.

    then i tried downloading vista 64 bit.. and it wouldn't install . what is everyone doing for scanners-- will i have to go to kinkos and scan

    That is OK! Some of us old timers may have forgotten the time when we were not computer gurus, but most of us here still remember what that was like.

    It looks like this Canon scanner has 64 bit drivers:

    Canon CanonScan LiDE90 Photo Scanner

    And my HP PSC 1600 All-in-one finally has 64 bit software available (it was really cheap at the time I bought it):

    HP Deskjet and Officejet Full Feature Software and Drivers HP PSC 1610 All-in-One Printer - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

    So I think you will be able to find a suitable 64 bit compatible scanner. Just look closely for 64 bit drivers/software.

    If you have already downloaded the Vista driver, (leave the scanner unplugged at first) right click on the .exe file and select "Properties" at the bottom of the menu. Then select the "Compatibility" tab and choose Vista as the compatibility mode to install the software. If this doesn't resolve the issue, let us know so we can help with the driver in another way.
