    hp printer C4240

    Hey Guys!

Need a little help here. Tried the cd as well as the hp download driver and even after putting them in compatibility mode there was an error in installation saying that I was not using an acceptable operating system. Any way I can install this driver?

Have you tried unistalling the driver and let windows update it.

Also check out the driver lists at the top of the page, in drivers. :)

Here's a link to the HP support page also. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/p...&lang=en&cc=vn

Apparently, while a printer is listed as being connected to my computer it does not have any assigned driver so while a restart the computer with it unplugged and plug it in again it reverts to its normal existing but useless self. I also tried the HP support page but am having problem's getting a response.

OK, have you un-installed the printer (hardware & software) and let windows find drivers? :)

I tried to do that but while the devices shown included my printer it wasn't 'installed'. It was kinda like having a cd in your drive but not having the program on it installed on your computer yet. So what I did was I unplugged the printer and rebooted. Once I rebooted I plugged the printer back in and Windows said it installed the correct drivers but again none were actually installed and my printer was still useless.

Another thing to try is to re-boot with the printer turned off.
After windows has re-booted turn the printer on again.
Sometimes windows needs to re-boot to install some drivers properly, and hardware is not always detected. :)
