    Hi,
I am using one of these in W7 and have no problems. The driver I am using is
PL2303_Prolific_DriverInstaller_v1210 and the hardware is Belkin F5U 103v.

New to the boards and trying to get a USB to serial driver installing on both Windows 7 and Vista for a device we use here at work. I've had no luck trying to get any of these installed as well as others I've found on the net. Attached are some screen shots for reference as these continuously come up no matter what I try.
I'm hoping it's something I'm doing wrong so I can finally get this to work. Any help is much appreciated.

EDIT: The Win7 system I'm working on is a 64-bit OS which I'm wondering may be part of the problem.

May be you don't have administrator privileges. Try to execute setup with "RUN AS".

The computer I was working on did not have admin rights, but I have them. Windows did prompt for my administration login but that was all.
I've successfully downloaded these on Windows XP systems (easy enough right?), but I'm still having trouble w/ Vista and Win7.

Thanks for the feedback, any other ideas?

I'm quite certain I've tried that one (almost every single one here and others I've found on the net). No matter what I've tried, after every attempted/failed installation (and removing of the drivers) I received the above messages on each one.

Still no luck on Win7 but seems like it's working on Vista [partially]. I'm wondering now if it's a confliction in the software of the device I'm trying to download the converter for.

Finaly it works on Win 7....

    Dear ALL,

After many hours on searching for the Right driver for Prolific USB-Serial adapter that's work on Windows 7 Ultimate 32x ,i descoverd how to install the correct driver for you.

Just follow the instruction below and you will be able to install it without any trouble:-

    1. Remove any previous installation if exist.
    2. Un-Plug your Adapter.
    3. Download the following file from :
    4. Extract the zip file , then before run the file "PL2303_Prolific_GPS_AllInOne_1013" ,make sure that you have check run as administrator option and with WINXP compatible mode.
    5. After the installation is complete - you should not receive any Inf file problem message- Plug your adapter and wait till windows configure its driver database.
    6. Play with it now.

Note: When you take a look at your driver file info , it should be like that:-
    Driver Provider : Prolific
    Driver Date : 4/17/2006
    Driver Version : 2.0.2.5

    Hope this can help someone

    Peace and love

After trying many drivers, I downloaded the zip mentioned in this link:
Akosta Innovations » Blog Archive » Problems with Prolific driver – Solution.

It seems to install without problem on my Toshiba NB200 running Win 7 Starter. But I have not attached the RS232/USB converter cable to a RS232 device yet, as a final test.

I gather the pl-2303 based devices are notorious for having driver problems.
