    1. 32 or 64bit Windows 7?
    1a. Was this a clean-install or upgrade?
    2. Did you install the Windows 7 drivers or older drivers?
2a. If you upgraded, was the printer already installed when you upgraded to Windows 7?
    3. Did you plug in the printer THEN installed the drivers?
3a. Did you install drivers or did you let Windows do it automatically?

    Ok try this:

HP Deskjet and Officejet Full Feature Software and Drivers HP PSC 1410 All-in-One Printer - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

Download the Windows 7 x64 drivers as your CD isn't quite up to date anymore. Give that a whirl.

    Hi, Oldwarzer! ^_^

If you have Internet connection you can plug your HP PSC 1410 in the USB port and wait a moment. Windows will try to download the proper driver for your printer and scanner from Windows Update for you.
Before doing that, remember to unplug your printer, uninstall the old driver you've installed before from your printer's CD and restart your machine.
The reason why drivers from CD doesn't works properly is because those drivers works up to Vista. The driver for Windows 7 was inexistent when the printer came out from factory.
I recommend you to use my method. I've installed lot of those printers in Windows 7 installing that way and always worked perfectly.

Hope it helps you and... Merry Christmas for everybody! \ (^o^) /
    Warm regards from Argentina. :)

Thanks for that, jelyman. That HP download, though slow, worked fine :)
